Arriba Nacional Cacao:

The raw cacao bean is one of nature's most fantastic superfoods due to its mineral content and wide array of unique and varied properties. Cacao is the number one source of magnesium of any food on the planet, contains 314% of the US RDA of iron per serving, contains the highest concentration of antioxidants of any food in the world, and is also
exceptionally rich in chromium, anandamide (the bliss chemical), theobromine, manganese, zinc, copper, vitamin C, omega-6 fatty acids, PEA,
tryptophan, serotonin, and more.

Due to its extraordinary concentration of PEA and magnesium, cacao is likely the single greatest weight loss food out there because cacao contains more minerals and molecules that actually shut off the appetite than any other food. Contrary to popular opinion, cacao contains very little, if any, caffeine. It has been clinically demonstrated that cacao does not elevate blood sugar in the same way as a caffeine containing food or beverage. Cacao is also a highly effective natural energy enhancer and aphrodisiac.

There are three major species of Theobroma Cacao currently in wide cultivation around the world: Criollo, Forastero, and Trinitario (a cross of the other two). Criollo is the most highly prized. Criollo varieties are very rare, comprising less than 1% of the worldwide cacao market.

Sun & Moon Superfood Mixes are derived from pure Criollo Ecuador Arriba Nacional Cacao beans. This cacao is grown in high-elevation volcanic soil that is brought down from the mountainous regions via donkey back. The Arriba Cacao trees are a minimum of 30 years old, and some have been growing for more than 80 years and only nourished from rain water or deep mountain spring water.

Why our Cacao Powder is Above the Rest

Sun & Moon Organics uses only 100% Arriba Criollo Cacao Powder is derived from pure Criollo Ecuador Arriba Nacional Cacao beans.

  • This cacao is grown in high-elevation volcanic soil that is brought down from the mountainous regions via donkey back.
  • The Tue Arriba Cacao trees are a minimum of 30 years old, and some have been growing for more than 80 years!

We guarantee the purity of our 100% Arriba cacao by selecting the pods personally by hand and we never acquire product from aggregators.

  • There is therefore no possible blending of beans with the CCN51 or other low quality hybrids that are pervasive in the area.
  • We only harvest the beans when they are fully mature and ripe.

Because we have such a pure quality cacao bean, you will have zero jitters from this product.

  • There is a complete lack of mycotoxins, mold, yeast, and fungus, which are what cause the adrenal response of jitteriness that is similar to caffeine stimulation in many cacao products.

The Tue Arriba cacao trees are only nourished from rain water or deep mountain spring water.

  • They are never irrigated from potentially contaminated rivers and streams.

The cacao is processed in our own state-of-the-art facility on custom artisan equipment that has never seen any other cacao but our own, so there is no possible integration with lesser quality cacao.

  • The cacao beans are always sun-dried and are never gas dried.
  • The cacao remains 100% raw from start to finish.

The purity of these beans results in a deep, intense, raw chocolate flavor.

MESQUITE POWDER:

Our Mesquite powder is ground from the seed pods of the mesquite plant, also known as Algorroba (Prosopis juliflora), a leguminous plant found in arid areas around the world, including parts of South America and the
southwestern U.S.

The Traditional Use of Mesquite

Mesquite seed pods have long been used in desert areas as a food source by the indigenous peoples, who traditionally ground them into a powder to be used as a flour or processed them into a sweetener, a sweet beverage, or a fermented alcoholic drink. For thousands of years, Native Americans in the Southwest and Mexico relied on mesquite as a food staple. Today, mesquite powder is a versatile food with a high nutritional and flavor value.

The Nutritional Value of Mesquite

Because mesquite powder is ground from the entire pod, including the seed, it is high in:

  • Protein (11-17%)
  • Lysine
  • Calcium
  • Magnesium
  • Potassium
  • Iron
  • Zinc
  • Dietary fiber !

Mesquite's sugar is in the form of fructose, which does not require insulin for metabolism. With a glycemic index of 25 and a high percentage (25%) of dietary fiber, it digests more slowly than many grains, preventing sharp rises and falls in blood sugar.

LUCUMA:

Lucuma Powder is a raw, organic sweetener with a strong fragrance and a full-bodied creamy texture that imparts a subtle maple flavor.

Lucuma is an exotic Peruvian fruit once known as the "Gold of the Incas" and is the "egg-fruit" of Peru. The round or ovaloid fruits are green, with a bright yellow flesh that is often fibrous. It has been honored spiritually and in the culinary fashion since ancient times. Within the Peruvian culture, lucuma is often part of celebrations and banquet settings because of its distinct and fragrant flavor. Although it grows in other tropical regions, fruits grown in the Peruvian highlands are considered to be of superior flavor, and are culturally revered.

The Nutritional Value of Lucuma

Lucuma is low in acid and contains an excellent source of carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, especially B3, and minerals.
